The Bell Tower Community Foundation has rolled out a limited edition commemorative book in time for the 50th anniversary of the Mahanay Memorial Carillon Tower.
Mikki Schwarzkopf, who as a new Jefferson resident decades ago wrote the story of Floyd and Dora Mahanay and the bell tower, also wrote the new book, which is full of photos and tales not shared before.
The books are available at the bell tower and at The Printer’s Box on the south side of the courthouse square. Also available are colorful canvas prints of a 2014 photo of the bell tower in two sizes, with proceeds from the sale going to the Bell Tower Community Foundation. Many other souvenirs are available at the bell tower, which is open weekends through October.
